To dream a dream...
Set in a picturesque valley, surrounded by mountains and vineyards, the McGregor Fountain Waldorf School have brought the light of Waldorf Education to McGregor and surrounding communities for 28 years.
It's opening on 17 January 1994 coincided with the beginning of our new South African democracy on 27 April 1994. This was not planned, but the events were certainly related. The McGregor Waldorf School, as it was called then, was the dream of a school to fit the dreams of the country.
Over the years the School has became a haven of hope for children and parents of the Langeberg area and it has made bright futures possible for many. To this day it contributes to the country's healing by bringing together children from different cultural, racial and economic groups in a cooperative learning environment. This beautiful dream is at the core of the School's everyday activities.
Today the McGregor Fountain Waldorf School consists of a Kindergarten and Primary school and is located right in the center of the village enabling our local children to walk to school. Children from the surrounding areas of Robertson and Ashton are collected and taken home by three busses daily.
It provides youngsters with an education to grow their self-esteem in an environment suffused with warmth and compassion.
It provides our young people with practical skills so that their approach to life always can be one of 'can do'. And it does this the Waldorf-way by imbuing all education with the artistic - to enliven, nourish and free the child's inner creativity and imagination.
Waldorf Education today is one of the fastest growing educational movements worldwide. Its exceptional teaching methods are gaining fast world-wide recognition in all spheres of society.
“Receive the children in reverence,
educate them in love,
and send them forth in freedom.”
Rudolf Steiner

Much research has been done on children and their use of technology for instance playing computer games, watching television and spending time on their cell phone. Our highest endeavor must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives. The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility—these three forces are the very nerve of education.
